2.3 Vegetation Condition Index (VCI), 2019 and 2020 compared to 2000-2016

Below you can find Vegetation Condition Index (VCI) for some time periods (each lasting 16 days) in 2019 and 2020 compared to the min and max NDVI values for the same time period between 2000 and 2016.
All VCIs were produced using NASA’s TERRA/AQUA-MODIS imagery (pixel size=250 meters).

The year 2019, was very warm, very sunny and on rural average quite dry, record temperatures in July 2019 were the sixth very warm year in a row with an average temperature of 11.2 °C.
