1.1.1 Form for “Knowledge base”

“Farmer’s Form” is the starting point of creating a ''Knowledge Base‘’ for the inventory of known information with farmers and related parties (e.g., contractors and advisors). This information is the foundation of our joint communication for knowledge transfer and will be used to incorporate data and products from remote sensing (satellite, drone, ground sensors) and GISs (maps such as cadaster, elevation data and topography) for further discussion on the following subjects:

  • Heat stress: including Weeds, Fungi, radish leaves, Uneven height of green maize (tall plants, short plants) under drought conditions;

  • Withered to an unappealing brown under heat and drought stress;

  • Moderate and heavy drought, their location and timestamp.

You may also upload documents, pictures, and other lab or research results. The idea is to start with the pair {problem, management solution}. This experience could be shared with other farmers with similar challenges via the AgriWatch web portal including printed media such as pictures, videos, maps, etc.

This could generate a very useful base for systematic knowledge exchange. The next level in the web portal (knowledge centre) should gradually build up answers about, detection and actions, regional and temporal models and predictions, as well as long-term management plans/actions (for current and next season) by farmers and secondary users of info. This is done by transferring large amounts of satellite and drone data under new climate conditions into useful information about your crop conditions.
